This primate tour will take you to the largest montane forest in central Africa that is a home of 13 primates including chimpanzees, butterflies, over 300 species of bird among others. the tour will start and end in Kigali the capital of Rwanda.
Day 1: Pick up from Kigali international airport and transfer to Nyungwe forest national park.
Our driver guide will pick you from Kigali airport when you reach and transfer you to the south western part of Rwanda in Nyungwe forest – a renowned primate capital of Rwanda. Pass via Butare town in the south for a magical cultural experience and traditional lunch. Continue to Nyungwe for overnight stay and dinner.
Day 2: Primate trekking in Nyungwe national park
Set off to the park after your breakfast to Nyungwe NP to discover the beauty of this park in Rwanda. You will trek the forest to look for these primates after a briefing about dos and don’ts. The park ranger guides will provide you with the required information about these beautiful creatures such as how the produce, feed, play among others. Among other primates you may encounter include; chimpanzees, L’Hoest’s monkeys, golden monkeys, silver monkeys, red tailed monkeys, vavet monkeys and olive baboons. You will also be exposed to different bird species like the Rwenzori turaco, the great blue turaco, paradise flycatchers among others but focus on the primates as they jump from one tree to another. Later transfer to your accommodation facility for dinner and over night.
Day 3: Transfer back to Kigali airport
On this day, you will have a relaxed breakfast but depending on your flight schedule. You may visit the Rwanda genocide memorial center and later our driver guide will drop you to the airport to catch your scheduled flight and that will mark the end of the 3 days’ primate tour in Nyungwe NP.
