Detailed itinerary
Day 1: Entebbe Arrival & Kampala City Tour
Upon arrival at Entebbe International Airport, you will be warmly welcomed by your Epic Uganda Vacation driver-guide. Following a brief orientation regarding safari rules, we drive to Kampala. During this urban exploration, you will visit historical landmarks like the Kabaka’s Palace and the Queen’s Clock, and experience the vibrant atmosphere of Nakasero Market—the city’s oldest trading hub.
Day 2: Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary & Murchison Falls
After an early breakfast, we depart for Murchison Falls National Park. The 6-hour journey includes a pivotal stop at Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary. Specifically, you will trek on foot to see the Southern White Rhino, completing the first of your “Big Five” sightings. Subsequently, we proceed to the park, arriving at your lodge in time for a relaxing evening.
Day 3: Savannah Game Drive & Albert Nile Boat Cruise
At dawn, we head into the northern delta of Murchison Falls. Indeed, there are high chances of spotting Rothschild giraffes, lions, African elephants, and Jackson’s hartebeests. In the afternoon, we embark on a boat cruise toward the base of the falls. Notably, you will witness the Nile forcing itself through a tiny 7-meter gorge, creating the world’s most powerful waterfall, while spotting hippos and giant Nile crocodiles along the banks.
Day 4: To Kibale Forest & The Isunga Tea Experience
Next, we transfer to the “Primate Capital of the World,” Kibale National Park. On our way, we pass through the scenic Albertine Rift via Hoima. In the evening, we join the Isunga Cultural Community for an immersive tea experience. You will learn the entire process—from pruning and harvesting to the final cup—while enjoying the lush green scenery of the foothills.
Day 5: Chimpanzee trekking & Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary
Today, we enter the rainforest for chimpanzee trekking. After a briefing at the Kanyanchu visitors center, you will spend an hour observing our closest cousins as they swing through the canopy. Furthermore, the afternoon features a walk in Bigodi Swamp, a biodiversity hotspot where you can spot 8 different primate species and the rare Great Blue Turaco.
Day 6: The Equator & Queen Elizabeth National Park
Following breakfast, we drive 2–3 hours to Queen Elizabeth National Park. Crucially, we stop at the Equator for a unique photographic opportunity in both the Northern and Southern Hemispheres simultaneously. In the evening, we embark on a game drive across the Kasenyi Plains to search for elephants, Cape buffaloes, and the park’s elusive leopards.
Day 7: Tree-Climbing Lions & Kazinga Channel Cruise
Today, we explore the Ishasha sector, famous for its tree-climbing lions. In addition, the afternoon is reserved for a boat cruise on the Kazinga Channel. Consequently, you will have a front-row seat to one of the world’s highest concentrations of hippos and a spectacular array of water birds like Kingfishers and Pelicans.
Day 8: Ishasha Sector to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest
Transitioning further south, we drive toward Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. This journey takes us back through the Ishasha sector for one last look at the climbing lions before reaching the misty heights of Bwindi—home to half of the world’s remaining mountain gorillas.
Day 9: The Ultimate Gorilla Trekking Experience
This is the day you have been waiting for. After an early briefing, you will enter the ancient forest with expert rangers. Generally, the trek takes 2–8 hours depending on the gorillas’ movement. However, once found, the one hour spent in the presence of these gentle giants is a profound, life-changing experience. Afterward, you will receive your official trekking certificate at the park headquarters.
Day 10: Igongo Cultural Center & Departure
On our final day, we begin the journey back to Entebbe. On the way, we stop at the Igongo Cultural Center in Mbarara to explore Ankole heritage and shop for local crafts. Finally, after a celebratory lunch at the Equator, we proceed to Entebbe International Airport for your departure flight home.
