The 19 day big five long safari in Kenya takes to almost all the prime destinations in the country. The trip takes you the world’s most beautiful wild animals in their natural habitats. Visit several national parks and reserves, lakes and cultural groups. For the bird lovers, you will also spot several bird species that only Africa tours offer.

Day 1: Arrival and hotel transfer

Upon arrival at Jomo Kenyatta international airport, be received by our experienced driver guide. He will brief you about the whole trip while transferring you to the hotel in Nairobi where you will spend the night. Depending on the time of arrival, you will drive through Nairobi at your pace and having stopovers at places of interest.

Day 2: Drive to Samburu National reserve

On this day, waking up will be very early in the morning to start the journey to Samburu national reserve. The journey takes you through the equator and Mount Kenya road. Arrival will be in the afternoon for lunch, checking in and some relaxation. In the evening go for an evening game drive through the park to spot various wildlife animals that call it a home.

Day 3: Full day game drive in Samburu National reserve

Wake up to a delicious early breakfast and embark on the safari vehicle for a full day game drive in Samburu national park. Lunch will be in the wild. The game drive exposes you to several mammal species like the elephants, waterbucks, buffaloes, warthogs, antelopes, zebras, hippos, leopards and many others. Returning to the lodge in the evening for relaxation, dinner and overnight.

Day 4: Transfer to Ol Pejeta Conservancy

In the morning, have breakfast and have a morning game drive in Samburu. In the afternoon depart for Ol Pejeta Conservancy in Nanyuki. The journey is roughly two hours to Ol Pejeta, it’s the only park in Kenya where tourists have chances of spotting chimps, though this is not guaranteed. You will reach the park in the evening to check in at the lodge, overnight and dinner.

DAY 5: Game drive in Ol Pejeta Conservancy

On this day you will have a full day game drive in the conservancy. Game drives here expose you to Kenya’s cheetahs, lions, leopards, African wilddog, elephants and buffaloes among others as well as the amazing savannah plains scenery. Lunch will be in the wild amidst the wildlife. In the evening return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 6: Drive to Aberdare National Park

On having breakfast, travel to Aberdare national park. Arrival is in the afternoon for lunch and then go for an afternoon game drive in the park to search out for the elephants, black rhinos, spotted hyenas, olive baboons, buffaloes, warthogs and many others. On a lucky day you can even spot the rare sightings like the giant forest hog, bongo, golden cats and the blue duiker. Drive back to the lodge in the evening for dinner and overnight.

Day 7: Transfer to Lake Bogoria

Have a morning game drive after breakfast to also have a chance for sights of the early morning species. In the afternoon after lunch, start driving to Lake Bogoria; one of the world’s largest populations of lesser flamingos. On the way have a stopover at the equator for pictures and a water demonstration that shows how water swirls in different directions in the opposite hemispheres of the earth. You will reach in the evening at the lodge.

Day 8: Travel to Lake Nakuru

Early morning, have breakfast and visit the geysers and the hot springs along the banks. About 10 geysers can be observed in the four corners of the lake. After a satisfying lunch, travel to Lake Nakuru for the world’s largest concentration of flamingos. You will have a stopover at Thompson falls.

Day 9: Drive to Maasai Mara game reserve

On having breakfast in the morning, have a long morning walk on the shores of Lake Nakuru to view the pink lake made by the thousands of flamingos that dwell here. In the afternoon you will transfer to Maasai Mara national reserve. This is the most visited reserve in Kenya for its wildebeest migration.

Day 10: Full day game drive in Maasai Mara

Wake up to a delicious breakfast and head out for a full day game drive in Maasai Mara. Game drives in Maasai Mara are ones that immediately expose you to the big five in just the first few minutes of the drive, having real upclose encounters with the lions, leopards, cheetahs, elephants, buffaloes, rhinos, warthogs, zebras and many others. You will also spot the wildebeest migration, where millions of wildebeests and zebras migrate in search of greener pastures and water.

Day 11: Morning game drive and the Maasai cultural encounter

 Early morning after breakfast, have another game drive for more sights of the beautiful wildlife species in Maasai Mara. Have lunch and then visit the Maasai Cultural village for an encounter with one of the world’s most kind and hospitable people. Enjoy the traditional dances, taste local delicacies and personal interactions with the local people.

Day 12: Drive to Lake Naivasha

Having had a palatable breakfast, set off for Lake Naivasha, arriving in the afternoon for lunch. After the checking in and relaxation, have a boat ride to Crescent Island game sanctuary for possibilities of seeing some wildlife species like the giraffes, waterbucks, elands, zebras and several bird species. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 13: Visit Hell’s gate National park

On this day you will have more activities along the lake. Visit The Hell’s Gate National Park, walk through the gorge with its high cliffs. This walk takes you so close to the giraffes, zebras and gazelles as well as several unique flora species. On a lucky day, you can even spot a leopard. Here you will have an option of cycling, walking or rock climbing in the park. Return back to the lodge for lunch and relaxation as you prepare for the next day.

Day 14: Transfer to Amboseli national park

Setting off will be after breakfast for Amboseli national park. Arrival will be in the afternoon, the perfect time for lunch. After lunch have some relaxation at the lodge before embarking on the evening game drive. The drive gives you beautiful views of Africa’s highest peak; Kilimanjaro Mountain and sights of various wildlife species.

Day 15: Full day game drive in Amboseli

Early morning, have breakfast and head out of the lodge for a full day game drive in Amboseli national park. The park is known for its huge concentration of elephants that you will witness on the game drive. Still spot other mammal species like the zebras, hippos, buffaloes, wildebeests, giraffes, lions, leopards, cheetahs, rhinos and many species of the plain game. Lunch will be in the wild as returning to the lodge will be in the evening for just relaxation, dinner and overnight.

Day 16: Drive to Tsavo West

After a delicious breakfast, start the journey to Tsavo West. Arrival will be at lunch time, just to check in at the lodge, have a lunch meal, relaxation and an evening game drive in the park. Tsavo offers a whole different wild experience spotting the elephants, buffaloes, cheetahs, rhinos, lions, leopards and numerous plant species as well as bird species.

Day 17: Drive to Tsavo east

Wake up to an early game drive for more wildlife experiences. Return to the lodge for breakfast and drive to Tsavo east a renowned place for man eating lions during the construction of the East African railway. You will arrive in the afternoon for lunch and embark on an evening game drive till late when you return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 18: Game drive in Tsavo East

Have a very early morning game drive to through the park to spot huge herds of the red elephants, crocodiles, buffaloes, leopards, pods of hippos among others. Return to the lodge for lunch and some relaxation in preparation for the next day.

Day 19: Travel back to Nairobi

Early morning after breakfast, travel back to Nairobi to the hotel of your choice or straight to the airport to for your onward flight.
