Details of your safari

Day 1: Entebbe to Murchison Falls via Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary

After your safari briefing, we depart for Murchison Falls National Park. Our first stop is Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary, where you will track Southern White Rhinos on foot—providing an intimate, eye-level perspective for your first “Big Five” photos. We continue through Masindi to the southern gate of Uganda’s largest park.

Day 2: Savannah Gold & The Thunderous Falls

At sunrise, we explore the Northern game tracks. Indeed, Murchison’s light is world-class for capturing Rothschild giraffes, elephants, and lions against the golden savannah. In the afternoon, we board a boat to the base of the falls. Specifically, look for the “Devil’s Cauldron” where the Nile explodes through a narrow gorge—a perfect long-exposure photography subject.

Day 3: Aerial Views & Hot Air Balloon Safari

Today begins with a highlight: a sunrise hot air balloon safari. This provides a rare aerial perspective of the Nile and the vast herds below. Following your bush breakfast, we continue with a ground-level game drive to capture intimate portraits of leopards and buffaloes. Optional: An evening boat cruise for “golden hour” aquatic shots.

Day 4: Scenic Transfer to Kibale Forest

We leave the savannah for the rainforest. This 7–8 hour drive offers breathtaking views of the Albertine Rift Valley escarpment. We arrive in Fort Portal, the gateway to the primates, for an evening of relaxation and gear preparation.

Day 5: Chimpanzee Portraits & Queen Elizabeth National Park

At dawn, we enter the lush Kibale National Park. You have one hour with the chimpanzees; focus on capturing their expressive faces and social interactions. Afterward, we drive to Queen Elizabeth National Park, arriving in time to scout for sunset lighting over the crater lakes.

Day 6: Kasenyi Plains & The Kazinga Channel

Early morning light in the Kasenyi Sector is perfect for tracking lions and hyenas. In the afternoon, we cruise the Kazinga Channel. Notably, this channel offers the best “water-level” photography in Africa for hippos, crocodiles, and over 600 bird species.

Day 7: The Tree-Climbing Lions of Ishasha

We head to the remote Ishasha Sector. Your objective: The unique tree-climbing lions. Capturing these predators draped across ancient fig trees is a “bucket list” shot for any wildlife photographer. Following a bush lunch, we proceed to the misty Bwindi Impenetrable Forest.

Day 8: Gorilla Trekking – First Encounter

Today, you enter the ancient Bwindi rainforest. Tracking the endangered Mountain Gorillas is a physical challenge but rewards you with an hour of incredible photography. Pro Tip: Use a high ISO and a fast lens (f/2.8) to handle the “dim” light of the “impenetrable” forest.

Day 9: Double Trekking & Lake Bunyonyi

For maximum variety, we trek a different gorilla family today. This ensures you capture different social dynamics and lighting. Afterward, we transfer to Lake Bunyonyi—Uganda’s deepest lake—famous for its 29 islands and mystical morning mists, perfect for landscape photography.

Day 10: The Islands of Bunyonyi & Lake Mburo

After a morning boat ride to capture the terraced hills and islands, we transfer to Lake Mburo National Park. This is the best place to photograph Burchell’s Zebra and the massive Eland against a backdrop of acacia woodlands.

Day 11: Full Day in Lake Mburo

Today includes a morning game drive and an afternoon boat cruise on Lake Mburo. Focus on the rare African Finfoot and the diverse raptors. The park’s smaller size allows for closer approaches to giraffes and warthogs, ideal for detailed macro and portrait shots.

Day 12: Horseback Safari & Departure

Finally, enjoy a unique perspective with a guided nature walk or a horseback safari. This allows you to get exceptionally close to zebras and elands without the noise of an engine. On our way back to Entebbe, we stop at the Uganda Equator for iconic “two-hemisphere” photos before your flight home.
