This 5 day safari provides endless chances to track the gentle giants in Volcanoes National park, have beautiful game drives in Akagera National Park and enjoy spectacular bird watching, Nature walks as well as engage in cultural encounters.
Day 1: Transfer from Kigali to Akagera national park
On arrival, you will be picked up by our driver guide at Kigali airport who will brief you about this 5 day safari and afterwards transfer to Akagera National Park near the Tanzanian boarder in the east. This transfer usually lasts for 2 hours filled with beautiful scenery across the rich country side of Rwanda.
Once in the park, you will have lunch and later set out for a game drive in the southern part of the park on the Lake Ihema circuit. This circuit is endowed with a wide variety of animal species ranging from Elephants, Zebras, Giraffes, Buffaloes, Hippos, Nile Crocodiles, plus many other mammals. Water bodies and Lowland swamps in the backyard add an extraordinary aura to the game drive.

Day 2: Boat trip and Game drive at Akagera National Park
After exploring the southern circuit on your first day, day 2 will be focusing on the northern part of the park. After having breakfast, you will be taken to the northern circuit to enjoy the beautiful landscape plus wildlife including hippos, lions, crocodiles just to mention but a few.
After the game drive you will return to your lodge relax at the poolside as you wait for lunch. After lunch you set off for a boat ride on Lake Ihema sprawling with huge Nile crocodiles, a number of hippos and over 520 bird species will grace these amazing hours. The day will be topped up by a delicious dinner and rest in preparation for the following day.

Day 3: Transfer from Akagera National Park to Volcanoes National Park.
After breakfast you will embark on your journey to Volcanoes national park and will have a stopover in Kigali. Here you will have a chance to hear about the 1994 Rwanda genocide Thereafter you will continue to volcanoes national park home to the gorgeous gentle giants.
You will spend the last days of your safari here and its advisable you sleep early in preparation for waking up early the following day.

Day 4: Gorilla Trekking in Volcanoes national park.
You will rise to an early breakfast and then driven to Kingi station for briefing on what you are supposed to do on the gorilla tracks On reaching your destination, you will spend one hour with the playful gorgeous gorillas that welcome you in a language best understood by themselves and the rangers who have spent more time with them. Your guide will now and then explain the meaning of some of their gestures which are more or less humanlike. You will see these primates going about their daily activities like feeding their little ones, grooming their fur and playing.
After your lunch rest you will engage in a cultural tour. Be ready to experience one of Africa’s warmest and loving communities with spectacular cultural dances, mouth watering local cuisines and many more interesting activities for the visitors to enjoy.

Day 5: Transfer back to Kigali and departure.
After a leisurely breakfast you will be free to relax in this ambiance until it’s time to depart to Kigali. Your guide will transfer you back to Kigali Airport in order to catch your flight back home. This will mark the end of your amazing tour and wish you a safe journey back home.
