This safari will take you will take you to the most remarkable wildlife places such as volcanoes national park to trek the remaining mountain gorillas, Nyungwe forest NP for canopy walk, primate trekking and birding, tour the genocide memorial center among others. The tour commences and end in Kigali.

Day 1: Pickup from Kigali airport and transfer to the hotel.

Upon reaching Kigali International airport you will be welcomed by our driver guide who will brief you about the 10-day tour and Rwanda at large. Depending on your arrival time, you may tour around the city for example; visiting the Rwanda genocide memorial centre which was opened 2004, the president’s palace and the central business district of the city. You will check in your hotel for your accommodation.

Day 2: Transfer to volcanoes national park

Have an early morning breakfast that will be served at the lodge and after you will depart to volcanoes national park. Before reaching the park you will have a stopover for lunch and photographs. You will check in the lodge for accommodation.

Day 3: Mountain gorilla trekking

After your breakfast you will head to the park office to be briefed about the does and don’ts while trekking the Gorillas. You will be assigned into different groups of 8 to track the gorillas. And Straight away you will be led by the park ranger guide into the forest in search of the Gorillas. This activity takes 3-8 hours depending on the movements of the gorillas. Including 1 hour of interaction which will seem to be a second.   You will later head back to lodge for lunch and relaxation.

Day 4: Beach experience on lake Kivu – Gisenyi

You will transfer to Gisenyi after your cup of coffee from Ruhengeri, a beautiful town situated on the shores of the pretty lake Kivu. You will relax at the beach as you sun bath, you will take canoes and visit some Islands. In the afternoon you will visit Ndaba Falls and later evening return to the lodge for your accommodation.

Day 5: Transfer to Nyungwe national park

After an early breakfast, you will set off to Nyungwe national park. Nyungwe forest is the largest montane forest harboring 13 primate species including our cousins, the chimpanzees, 38 reptiles and over 275 bird species.

After lunch, you will head for the only East African canopy walk where you will walk above the forest as you spot different beautiful bird species, monkeys jumping from one tree to another, among others. Check in in the lodge upon reaching for your dinner and overnight.

Day 6: Primate trekking

set off to the park after your breakfast to Nyungwe NP to discover the beauty of this park in Rwanda. You will trek the forest to look for these primates after a briefing about dos and don’ts. The park ranger guides will provide you with the required information about these beautiful creatures such as how the produce, feed, play among others. Among other primates you may encounter include; chimpanzees, L’Hoest’s monkeys, golden monkeys, silver monkeys, red tailed monkeys, vervet monkeys and olive baboons.

You will also be exposed to different bird species like the Rwenzori turaco, the great blue turaco, paradise flycatchers among others but focus on the primates as they jump from one tree to another.  Later transfer to your accommodation facility for dinner and overnight.

Day 7: Transfer to Kigali and culture encounter

You will transfer to Kigali City after your delicious breakfast and you will have a stopover at Gikongoro for a tour of the genocide memorial of Murambi. You will later have your lunch in Butare where it is easy to find the best original handicraft which you cannot find in any country of East Africa and even Africa at large. The national cultural museum is located in Butare making it worth to visit.

You will make a stopover in Nyanza to visit the royal palace of the traditional king of Rwanda “The Mwami”. Upon the arrival in Kigali, you will check in the hotel for your accommodation.

Day 8: Transfer to Akagera national park

Depart from Akagera national park after you have had your breakfast, which is located on the border of Rwanda and Tanzania. Its name originated from Akagera rive which feeds most of the lakes in Rwanda including Lake Ihema – the biggest in Rwanda.

You will have an evening game drive where you will spot a number of animals including lions, topi, giraffees, impalas, burchells zebras, among others. And over 25 bird species including African jackana, shoe billed stock. Later you will check in the lodge for accommodation.

Day 9: Game drive in Akagera national park.

Early in the morning you will have your breakfast and be briefed about the does and don’ts during the game drive, you will spot a number of animals including lions, Topi, Giraffes, impalas, Burchells zebras, among others. And over 275 bird species including African Jacana, shoe billed stock.  In the afternoon after your lunch you will board a boat to explore the water of lake Ihema.

You will spot animals such as the huge Nile crocodile, schools of hippos, among others. You will head back to your lodge for dine and overnight.

Day 10: Transfer back to Kigali airport

On this day, you will have a leisurely breakfast and straight away check out of the lodge and head back to Kigali. Depending on your flight schedule you may visit some of the craft shops in the city to buy yourself a souvenir and later head to Kigali International airport for your flight thus marking the end of your 10 days Rwanda safari.
