Full Itinerary
Day 1 – Arrival in Kigali
Your adventure begins upon your arrival at Kigali International Airport, where a warm welcome awaits you. After clearing customs, you’ll be greeted by your guide, who will assist you with your luggage and provide a brief overview of your upcoming journey. You’ll then be transferred to your hotel in Kigali, where you can relax and recover from your travels. The evening is free for you to explore the vibrant city at your leisure. Alternatively, you can simply unwind before the exciting days ahead. Later in your journey, you will travel to the famous Maasai Mara.
Day 2 – Kigali → Bwindi Impenetrable Forest (Uganda)
On Day 2, you’ll enjoy an early morning breakfast before embarking on a scenic drive from Kigali to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest. As you travel for approximately 4 to 5 hours, the landscape transforms, showcasing the beauty of the Rwandan hills and the lush surroundings. Upon your arrival at Bwindi, you’ll check into your lodge. Afterward, you will have the rest of the day to relax and soak in the serene environment of the forest. The sounds of nature and the cool air will soothe you as you prepare for the adventures to come. This includes those in Maasai Mara later in the week.
Day 3 – Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi
Today is the highlight of your journey: mountain gorilla trekking in Bwindi. After an early breakfast, you’ll set out with expert guides into the heart of the impenetrable forest. Depending on the gorilla family’s location, the trek can take anywhere from 2 to 6 hours. The moment you encounter these magnificent creatures in their natural habitat is nothing short of magical. The experience of watching them interact will stay with you forever. After your trek, the afternoon is yours to enjoy at leisure. You might opt for a community walk to immerse yourself in the local culture or simply relax at your lodge. Your journey continues soon to Maasai Mara as well.
Day 4 – Bwindi → Kigali
Following a hearty breakfast, you’ll begin your return journey back to Kigali. The drive allows you to reflect on your unforgettable experiences in Bwindi as you navigate the picturesque landscapes. Once you arrive in Kigali, you’ll check into your hotel for the night. Use this evening to explore more of the vibrant capital or relax in the comfort of your accommodation. Later, you will head to Maasai Mara during the safari.
Day 5 – Kigali → Nairobi
On Day 5, you’ll catch a morning flight from Kigali to Jomo Kenyatta International Airport in Nairobi. After landing, a transfer will take you to your hotel for an overnight stay. You’ll have the afternoon free to either relax at your hotel or venture into Nairobi to discover its rich culture and history. For example, you might visit local markets or the famous giraffe center. After Nairobi, your adventure takes you into Maasai Mara for incredible wildlife encounters.
Day 6 – Nairobi → Maasai Mara National Reserve
An early morning wake-up call sets you on your way to Maasai Mara National Reserve. The drive, lasting approximately 5 to 6 hours, offers stunning views of the Kenyan countryside. Once you arrive, you’ll check in to your lodge and prepare for an afternoon game drive. As you venture into the savannah, you’ll begin to encounter the diverse wildlife that makes this region famous. Keep your camera ready for the spectacular sights that await you. Meanwhile, the Maasai Mara landscape unfolds in front of you.
Day 7 – Maasai Mara (Full Day Safari)
Get ready for an exciting full day of game drives in Maasai Mara! As you explore the vast landscapes that are home to Africa’s iconic wildlife, you’ll track the Big Five and witness the fascinating behaviors of various animals. If you choose, you can also opt for an early morning hot air balloon safari to experience the breathtaking views of the Mara from above as the sun rises. After a rewarding day filled with wildlife encounters, you’ll return to your lodge for another restful night. During the night, you will be surrounded by the wonders of Maasai Mara.
Day 8 – Maasai Mara → Nairobi → Departure
On your final day, you’ll rise early to enjoy one last morning game drive, taking in any sights you may have missed. After breakfast, you’ll start your transfer back to Nairobi, ensuring you arrive in time for your international departure. Reflect on the incredible experiences of the past week as you head to the airport.
