A trip to the real African forest is a fantastic experience; it Unveils the beauty of the democratic Republic of Congo in central Africa, the Republic of Rwanda, and the lovely nation of Uganda, right at the immense jungle of the Virunga chain of mountains. The majority of the mountain gorillas, which make up half of the world’s total population, are found in Uganda’s south-western Mgahinga Gorilla National Park. Gorillas are distant relatives of humans, with whom they share more than 98 percent of their DNA.
The park has mountain gorillas, and you can follow them on foot to see where they are resting or feeding. This is made possible with the aid of a knowledgeable ranger guide. Your safari begins and ends at the prearranged collection location, which is either Entebbe International Airport or Kampala City. The quality of the food, lodging, and transportation is excellent.
Trip in details.
Day 1: Pick up and drive to Mgahinga gorilla National Park
After a safe landing at Entebbe International Airport, you will be greeted by the magnificent Lake Victoria and a friendly driver guide who will take you to and from the Mgahinga Gorilla National Park, home to the world’s population of mountain gorillas.
It takes 9 to 11 hours to travel by car through the breathtaking countryside of western Uganda, with breaks for lunch and refreshments. You’ll arrive to the park just before dusk, enjoy a delectable dinner, and then retire for the night. Gorilla trekking begins quite early in the morning, so you should keep your schedule and be well-rested.
Day 2: Gorilla trekking and the Batwa pygmies encounter.
Start the day with a mouthwatering breakfast at the lodge, and then drive to the park headquarters with all of your luggage and trekking gear for a pre-trek briefing. The knowledgeable ranger guides will go over the dos and don’ts of trekking, assign participants to gorilla families, and then accompany them on an experience that will last anywhere from one to eight hours, depending on how far the family you are tracking has traveled. Families of gorillas travel together, with a large silverback in charge of their security and cohesion. In the group of gorillas, it is the center of attention.
Expect to see gorilla habitats, rare plant species, birds, and more, among other things. After visiting the gorillas, you have an hour to yourself to observe how your cousins interact before lunch. After the lunch break, you will return to the lodge for refreshment, and thereafter either refresh, or take a trip to the Batwa cultural community to dance, sing and move around the community; a place where the forest dwellers are adopting to a life outside life.
Day 3: Departure.
Start your day off right with a hearty breakfast at the lodge. Then, with your bags, check out and drive to Kampala or Entebbe international airport, where you’ll be let off. In order to witness the experiment demonstrating how the equator separates the earth into the northern and southern hemispheres, there will be a stopover at the equator along the way. At the prearranged drop-off location, our drive guide will bid you farewell.
