Your 6 days of chimpanzee and wildlife will take you to destinations like Kibale national park which is the primate capital of the world for chimpanzee trekking and later on body swamp walk whereby you will be able to look at 8 of the 13 primates in Kibale, Queen Elizabeth national park one of the savannah parks in Uganda for a game drive and a boat cruise on Kazinga channel and then finally to the smallest national park which is lake Mburo located in Kiruhura district and one of the best parks you should not forget to include on you itinerary if you want to look at the zebras.

Detailed itinerary

Day 1: Arrival and transfer to Kibale national park

You will meet your driver-guide at the airport in Entebbe who will then take you through a quick briefing about your 6 days chimpanzee trekking and wildlife safari in Uganda the pearl of Africa, after a briefing you will drive heading to the western part of Uganda where Kibale is situated.

On your way to the park, you will be looking at the beautiful scenery of the tea plantations, banana plantations, crater lakes and the Rwenzori mountain ranges since the park is located in the foothills of Rwenzori. You will have lunch from any local restaurant in Fortportal the tourism city of Uganda and then embark on a journey to the lodge of your booking.     

Day2: Chimpanzee trekking and Bigodi swamp walk

Today you will wake up early in the morning and have your breakfast and then your driver-guide will pick you up from the lodge and drive you to the Kanyanchu visitor centre where you will be briefed by the ranger guide before heading to the forest for trekking and after you will start you trekking which will take 3-4 hours depending on where the chimpanzees will be at that time.

But when sighted, you will be allowed to spend one hour in their presence as you watch them jump from one tree to another, communicate, feed, and groom each other among other behaviours. You will not only look at these chimpanzees but also at other primates like red-tailed monkeys, vervet monkeys, olive baboons and many others. After your long trek, you will move back to the lodge for lunch.

In the evening, you will head for a 2-3 hours Bigodi swamp walk with chances of looking at various birds like the great blue turaco, parrots, cranes, barbets and many more, mammals like sitatungas, bushbucks and others, primates like red colobus, grey-cheeked mangabeys, L’Hoest’s monkey and several. Retreat to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 3: Transfer to Queen Elizabeth national park and game drive

Enjoy your Ugandan breakfast in the morning, checkout from the lodge and drive to Queen Elizabeth the second largest national park among the ten we are having in Uganda and one of the best destinations to go to when in Uganda. This park is famously known for homing the rare tree-climbing lions which are only found here and in Manyara in Tanzania. You will check-in at the lodge and have lunch, after you will head for an evening game drive in the open grasslands of Kasenyi plains.

While on your game drive you will be able to look at animals such as elephants, buffaloes, bushbucks, and a lot of bird species since the park boosts over 600 bird species like Egyptian goose, sacred ibis, lesser flamingos, African skimmers and many more. Return to the lodge for dinner and a trans night stay.  

Day 4: Game drive and boat cruise

Be served with a delicious breakfast and then head for another game drive in the morning in Kasenyi plains where you will have a chance of looking at early grazers such elephants, buffaloes, hippos leopards and lions among others as they hunt for prey to survive in the morning and others hanging up in the big trees. Other animals to look at are the hippos, topis, waterbucks and many others, of course not forgetting to take photos while on such a beautiful game drive when you are a bit closer to the wild animals. Then you will transfer to the lodge for lunch as you warm up yourself for an evening boat cruise on the Kazinga channel.

On your boat cruise along the Kazinga channel which is a channel separating lake Edward and George, you will enjoy watching the hippos sunbathing in the evening, elephants that come over to cool their bodies on the river banks, crocodiles and not only the above but also a lot of water birds like kingfishers, pelicans among others.

Day 5: Transfer to Lake Mburo national park and evening game drive

In the morning after your breakfast, you will drive to Lake Mburo national park the smallest of all the ten but the most interesting one with several impalas and an abundance of zebra thus being referred to as a home of zebras, it is located in Kiruhura district and you will check-in at the hotel for lunch and after lunch, you will head for a game drive in the park.

While on your game drive you will have a look at warthogs, bushbucks, and impalas in their full flight which will make your evening so wonderful and memorable, zebras grazing in front of buffalos which are less concerned about them, a lot of birds in the acacia woodland trees like starlings, bishops, spurfowls among others. return to the lodge for dinner.

Day 6: Nature walk and departure

In the morning after your breakfast, You will participate in nature walk through the park giving you panoramic views of the creatures dwelling here including giraffes, zebras, impala, buffaloes and waterbucks among others.

Later drive back to Kampala with a stopover at the equator for photographic moments and lunch as well. Proceed with the journey to the airport.
