For Canadians planning a trip to Uganda, navigating the necessary preparations such as visas, flights, costs, and general travel tips can enhance your travel experience. This guide aims to provide essential information for your trip to Uganda in 2026.

Visa Requirements

As a Canadian citizen, you will need a visa to enter Uganda. Fortunately, the process is relatively straightforward:

e-Visa: Canadians can apply for an electronic visa (e-visa) online through the official Uganda Electronic Visa/Permit website. The process typically takes 3-5 business days for approval.

Types of Visas: The most common is the Tourist Visa, valid for 90 days and allowing single entry. If you plan to engage in business or work, different visa categories are available.

Supporting Documents

When applying for an e-visa, ensure you have the following documents:

A valid Canadian passport with at least six months of validity from the date of entry.

A passport-sized photograph.

Proof of accommodation (hotel bookings or invitation letters).

Evidence of a return flight or onward travel.

Payment confirmation for the visa fee (typically around $50 USD).

Upon Arrival

At the airport, carry a printed copy of your visa approval and any required supporting documents. Keep in mind that immigration officials may ask for proof of travel insurance and vaccination records, especially for yellow fever.

Flights to Uganda from Canada

Direct Flights: Currently, there are no direct flights between Canada and Uganda. Most travelers will need to connect through major European or Middle Eastern hubs such as Amsterdam, London, or Doha.

Age Limit for Gorilla Trekking in Uganda

Gorilla trekking in Uganda is a unique and thrilling experience. It allows adventure seekers to observe the critically endangered mountain gorillas in their natural habitat. Many potential visitors wonder about the age limit for participating in this remarkable activity. This article will explore the age restrictions, the rationale behind them, and essential tips for planning your gorilla trekking expedition.

Overview of Gorilla Trekking in Uganda

Uganda is home to over half of the world's remaining mountain gorillas. They are primarily located in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park and Mgahinga Gorilla National Park. These majestic creatures are known for their intelligence, social behavior, and complex family structures.
Gorilla trekking allows visitors to witness these incredible animals up close. However, there are specific guidelines in place to ensure the safety and well-being of both the trekkers and the gorillas.

What is the Age Limit for Gorilla Trekking in Uganda?

The minimum age to participate in gorilla trekking in Uganda is 15 years. This regulation is enforced by the Uganda Wildlife Authority (UWA) to ensure that participants have the maturity. They must have the physical capability to handle the rigorous trek through the dense forest. This also helps maintain the safety of the gorillas.

Trekking to find gorillas often involves steep, uneven terrain and varying weather conditions. An age limit helps ensure that participants have the necessary physical stamina and capability for this challenging experience. An age limit helps ensure that all trekkers can adhere to the guidelines set by park authorities. Gorilla trekking requires a respectful and calm demeanor around the animals to avoid causing them distress. Maintaining a minimum age helps ensure that all participants can understand and follow safety protocols, reducing risks during the trek.

No Upper Age Limit

While there is a minimum age requirement, there is no upper age limit for participants. Older adults are welcome to join gorilla trekking groups, provided they are in good health and can manage the physical demands of the trek. Guided treks can often be adjusted to suit the group’s fitness levels. In addition, rangers are available to assist if needed.

Planning for a Gorilla Trekking Experience in Uganda

If you meet the age requirements and are planning a gorilla trekking adventure, here are several important considerations to ensure a successful experience.

Health and Fitness

Although there is no specific fitness requirement, being in good physical shape will enhance your experience. Regular hiking or cardio activities can help prepare your body for the trek. If you have existing health issues or are over the age of 60, consider consulting a healthcare professional before your trip. This ensures you are fit for the trek.

Booking Your Trek

Secure your gorilla trekking permits and accommodation well in advance, especially during peak seasons, as permits are limited. Carry valid identification that verifies your age when trekking, as park authorities may request it.

What to Expect on a Trek

Before the trek, participants receive a briefing from park rangers, detailing safety protocols and gorilla behavior. The trek can last anywhere from 1 to 7 hours depending on the location of the gorillas and the terrain. Trekking groups typically consist of 8 people, ensuring an intimate experience while minimizing stress for the gorillas.

Benefits of Gorilla Trekking in Uganda

Despite age restrictions, gorilla trekking is a rewarding experience for both younger and older participants. Educational Experience, observing mountain gorillas provides unique insights into their behavior and conservation efforts. Trekking often includes interactions with local communities, offering a chance to learn about their cultures and customs. Lastly, Gorilla trekking fosters a deeper appreciation for nature and wildlife conservation and the importance of preserving these majestic creatures.

Are there Alternative activities for Younger Children while adults do gorilla trekking in Uganda?
While children under 15 cannot participate in gorilla trekking, families with younger children can explore alternative activities that capture the essence of Uganda's unique wildlife and culture:

Some parks offer guided nature walks suitable for families, allowing younger children to experience the beauty of Uganda's landscapes and wildlife. Engage in cultural experiences with local communities, which can be enriching for young minds and provide insightful learning opportunities. Uganda is a birdwatcher's paradise. Therefore, you can discover the diverse bird species in the country with family-friendly birding activities.

Let age not be the limit

Gorilla trekking in Uganda offers a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to witness the majestic mountain gorillas up close. Understanding the age requirements – specifically, the minimum age of 15 years – ensures that all participants are physically equipped and mature enough to engage safely in this incredible experience.

For those who meet the age criteria, planning ahead can enhance your experience and ensure that you enjoy every moment of your trek. By following guidelines set by the Uganda Wildlife Authority, you contribute to the conservation of these magnificent creatures. You also create unforgettable memories in one of the world’s most biodiverse regions.

Whether you are young or young at heart, a gorilla trekking adventure in Uganda is an enriching experience that should be on everyone’s bucket list.

When it comes to safari destinations in Africa, countries like Kenya and Tanzania often steal the spotlight. However, nestled in the heart of East Africa lies Uganda – a country bursting with natural beauty, diverse wildlife, and unique cultural experiences that make it an exceptional yet underrated safari destination. In this blog post, we’ll explore the myriad reasons why Uganda deserves recognition as Africa’s most underrated safari gem, highlighting its unique flora and fauna, stunning landscapes, accessibility, rich culture, and conservation efforts.

A Rich Tapestry of Wildlife

Mountain Gorillas

One of the crown jewels of Uganda’s wildlife offerings is the mountain gorilla. The country is home to more than half of the world’s remaining mountain gorilla population, primarily found in two national parks: Bwindi Impenetrable National Park and Mgahinga Gorilla National Park. Trekking to see these majestic creatures in their natural habitat is a life-changing experience that should be on everyone’s bucket list.

Gorilla trekking in Uganda is not only an opportunity to observe these gentle giants up close but also a chance to support vital conservation efforts. The revenue generated from trekking permits helps preserve their habitats and supports local communities. Unlike more commercialized safari experiences in neighboring countries, Uganda offers a more intimate, raw, and rewarding encounter with these extraordinary animals.

Diverse Wildlife Beyond Gorillas

While mountain gorillas are undoubtedly the highlight, Uganda boasts an impressive array of wildlife that goes beyond primates. Visitors can experience a wide range of animals, including:

The Big Five: Uganda is home to elephants, lions, leopards, buffalo, and even rhinoceroses in various national parks such as Queen Elizabeth National Park, Murchison Falls National Park, and Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary.

Birdwatching Paradise: With over 1,000 bird species recorded, Uganda is a birdwatcher’s dream. The rare shoebill stork, as well as a multitude of colorful species, can be spotted throughout the country.

Unique Ecosystems: Uganda’s national parks encompass a variety of ecosystems—from savannahs to wetlands and rainforests – each supporting different types of wildlife.

This rich biodiversity makes Uganda a compelling destination for wildlife enthusiasts, photographers, and nature lovers.

Stunning Landscapes

Uganda is often referred to as the “Pearl of Africa” due to its breathtaking landscapes. One of its most iconic features is the source of the Nile River, which flows from Lake Victoria. The Nile is renowned for its dramatic rapids and opportunities for white-water rafting, making it a fantastic destination for adventure seekers.

Lush Rainforests and Scenic Hills

mount Gahinga

The country is endowed with lush rainforests, such as those found in Bwindi and Kibale National Parks. These forests are not only home to primates but also contain some of the most diverse plant life in Africa. Hiking through these forests offers breathtaking views, and the rich biodiversity contributes to a multi-sensory experience unique to Uganda. Moreover, the scenic hills of the Toro and Fort Portal regions present charming landscapes with terraced agriculture and traditional villages, creating a picturesque backdrop for any safari.

Unique Waterfalls and Lakes

Uganda is dotted with beautiful lakes and waterfalls, such as Murchison Falls, where the Nile River squeezes through a narrow gorge and crashes into a series of cascading drops. This natural spectacle is not just visually stunning but offers opportunities for boat safaris where visitors can see hippos, crocodiles, and a variety of bird species up close. With serene lakes and the enchanting landscape of the Rwenzori Mountains in the background, Uganda is truly an outdoor paradise that offers a combination of nature, adventure, and beauty.

Well-Connected Destinations

One of the reasons Uganda remains underrated as a safari destination is its perceived accessibility compared to more famous neighbors. However, in recent years, the country has made significant strides in improving its infrastructure. Major national parks are now connected by well-maintained roads, and the infrastructure to support tourism has improved dramatically.

Entebbe International Airport serves as the main entry point for travelers, with direct flights from several international destinations. Once in the country, visitors can easily access various national parks and attractions within a reasonable time, making it suitable for both short and extended trips.

Affordable Safari Packages

Uganda also offers a range of safari packages catering to different budgets. Unlike some of the more commercialized safari circuits in Kenya and Tanzania, Uganda provides affordable options that do not compromise on the quality of wildlife experiences. From luxury lodges to budget camping options, there’s something for everyone. This inclusivity makes Uganda a fantastic option for families, solo travelers, or couples looking for a unique romantic getaway.

Diverse Ethnic Communities

Uganda cultural tour

Uganda is home to more than 50 different ethnic groups, each with its own unique customs, traditions, and languages. This diversity provides travelers with a rich cultural tapestry to explore.

Visitors can engage with local communities in various ways, such as Cultural Village Tours (Many lodges offer guided tours to nearby villages, allowing visitors to immerse themselves in traditional practices, crafts, and daily life). Traditional Festivals (Uganda hosts several cultural festivals throughout the year, celebrating everything from agriculture to arts. These events are vibrant and filled with music, dance, and local cuisine.

Engagements with the Batwa, including the Batwa Trail, allow visitors to learn about their ancestral hunting and gathering lifestyle, as well as the challenges they face in a modernizing world.

Interacting with the Batwa offers an authentic connection to Uganda’s history and highlights the importance of preserving their cultural heritage alongside wildlife conservation.

Community Involvement

Uganda has made significant strides in wildlife conservation, and many of these efforts are community-driven. The country’s approach to conservation prioritizes involving local communities in initiatives, ensuring they benefit from wildlife tourism.

For example, a portion of the revenue generated from gorilla trekking permits is reinvested back into local communities, funding education, healthcare, and infrastructure projects. This approach creates a sense of ownership among local populations and helps mitigate human-wildlife conflicts.

Success Stories

Uganda has seen significant successes in recent years regarding conservation. The mountain gorilla population has been steadily increasing, thanks to rigorous anti-poaching measures, habitat restoration, and community engagement. As a result, gorilla trekking permits are highly sought after and contribute greatly to the nation’s economy.

Moreover, there are ongoing efforts to reintroduce rhinoceroses at Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary, further solidifying Uganda as a key player in wildlife conservation in Africa.

Adventure Beyond the Safari

Uganda is not just about wildlife; it offers a plethora of adventure activities that cater to thrill-seekers. Here are some popular options:

White-Water Rafting: The Nile River offers exhilarating white-water rafting experiences that range from beginner to advanced levels. The spectacular rapids and stunning landscapes make this a must-try activity.

Hiking and Trekking: The stunning landscapes of the Rwenzori Mountains and the 12-hour hike to the summit of Mount Stanley are popular among trekkers. For those interested in shorter hikes, trails in Kibale Forest provide opportunities to see chimpanzees and other wildlife up close.

Bird Watching: Uganda is home to over 1,000 bird species, making it a premier destination for birdwatching enthusiasts. The wetlands, savannahs, and forests offer diverse habitats for both resident and migratory species.

Relaxation and Wellness

For those looking to unwind after an adventurous safari, Uganda also boasts serene lakes such as Lake Bunyonyi, where guests can relax, swim, or kayak. The lake is dotted with beautiful islands and is known for its tranquility, making it an ideal spot for relaxation.

Additionally, wellness retreats featuring traditional Ugandan massage and holistic healing treatments are becoming increasingly popular.

Safety and Stability

Safety is often a concern for travelers considering Uganda as a safari destination. However, Uganda has made tremendous strides in improving safety and security for tourists. The Ugandan government prioritizes tourism and has implemented various measures to ensure the safety of visitors.

While some parts of the country have experienced unrest in the past, the majority of tourist areas, including national parks and urban centers, are safe for travelers. As with any destination, using common sense and staying informed is crucial.

Friendly Locals

Ugandans are known for their warmth and hospitality, often greeting visitors with smiles and a friendly “Welcome to Uganda!” This welcoming attitude reflects the nation’s rich culture and enhances the overall experience for travelers.

As you embark on your journey to discover Africa, don’t overlook Uganda—the “Pearl of Africa.” With its captivating wildlife, friendly locals, and stunning landscapes, Uganda offers a safari experience unlike any other. Whether you’re a seasoned traveler or a first-time explorer, Uganda’s wonders await, ready to leave an indelible mark on your heart.
Rwanda Safari Guide

Rwanda offers a wealth of experiences for travelers, despite its status as a small, land-locked country in East Africa. Known as the Land of a Thousand Hills, the nation is defined by its stunning rolling landscapes and vibrant culture. Bordered by Uganda, Tanzania, Burundi, and the DR Congo, Rwanda has become a premier destination for those seeking wildlife, adventure, and deep historical insights. From the shores of Lake Kivu to the peaks of the Virunga Massif, here is everything you need to explore on your Rwanda safari.

Honor History at the Kigali Genocide Memorial

The Kigali Genocide Memorial serves as a vital starting point for any visitor. As the final resting place for over 250,000 victims of the 1994 genocide against the Tutsi, these grounds offer a profound look into Rwanda’s political history. Visitors can watch moving video testimonies and walk through educational exhibits. While the experience is deeply emotional, it is essential for understanding the resilience and unity of modern-day Rwanda.

Experience Gorilla Trekking in Volcanoes National Park

Gorilla trekking is the most sought-after activity in Rwanda. This adventure takes place exclusively in Volcanoes National Park, part of the famous Virunga Massif. The trek through the jungle can last between two to six hours, depending on the movement of the primates. Once you locate a family, you are granted one hour to witness their behaviors and capture photographic memories. Along the way, you will also discover unique plant species and the park’s rugged, beautiful terrain.

Immerse Yourself in Traditional Rwandan Culture

No safari is complete without experiencing the energy of local dance performances. Most hotels in Kigali or the Iby’iwacu Cultural Village (The Gorilla Guardians Village) organize these vibrant displays. The Intore dance troupe performs with immense joy and physical agility, often accompanied by traditional storytelling and folk tales. While participation is encouraged to make the experience truly interactive, it is never mandatory.

Track Rare Golden Monkeys

For primate lovers, Golden monkey trekking in Volcanoes National Park is a must-add to your itinerary. These rare primates are named for the distinct golden patches on their fur and live exclusively in the bamboo forests of the Virunga Conservation Area. Unlike gorilla trekking, which has strict group limits, golden monkey tracking is more flexible. Simply book your permit to secure an encounter with these playful, active creatures.

Chimpanzee Tracking and the Nyungwe Canopy Walk

Visit Nyungwe Forest National Park to encounter chimpanzees, our close biological relatives. After spending an hour observing these apes, you can head to the famous Canopy Walkway. This suspended bridge hangs high above the ancient forest floor, providing a bird’s-eye view of various primates and endemic bird species. For those interested in more primate adventures, you might also explore our guide on chimpanzee tracking.

Wildlife Safaris in Akagera National Park

Akagera National Park is Rwanda’s only savannah park and the best place to spot the Big Five (lion, leopard, elephant, buffalo, and rhino). Visitors can choose from game drives, boat cruises on Lake Ihema, or even hot air ballooning. Each activity lasts approximately two to three hours, offering a high-quality wildlife viewing experience in a stunning landscape of lakes and plains.

Other Iconic Things to Do in Rwanda

Beyond the major national parks, Rwanda offers several hidden gems and cultural landmarks:

Local Markets: Shop for crafts and fresh produce at the vibrant Kimironko Market.

Regardless of the destination, group wildlife safaris in Uganda and Rwanda are the best way to share the cost and experience.

Best Time to Visit

Rwanda is open all year. However, the dry seasons (June to September and December to February) are the best times. This is because the vegetation is shorter, which eases viewing. Conversely, the wet season offers less traffic and lush, photogenic landscapes.

Conclusively, Rwanda stands as one of the premier destinations to see mountain gorillas in their natural habitat. Whether you choose a 5-day luxury safari or a cultural tour, the memories will last a lifetime.

This question is quite interesting and has been asked on several occasions. As we break it down for your utmost understanding, by the end of this article, your question will surely be answered. Notably, combining gorilla trekking and chimpanzee tracking is like two sides of the same coin. This is because you will be trekking two distinct primates on the same trip. Let us first understand what both experiences of gorilla trekking and chimpanzee trekking are below.

Gorilla Trekking: The Ultimate Wildlife Encounter

Gorilla trekking involves walking through dense vegetation and challenging terrain in search of endangered mountain gorillas. In Uganda, gorilla trekking stands as one of the major tourism activities. Currently, only Bwindi Impenetrable National Park and Mgahinga Gorilla National Park offer this activity.

These two national parks harbor more than half of the world’s mountain gorilla population. Furthermore, these parks belong to the Virunga Conservation Area. This area stretches from Virunga National Park in the Democratic Republic of Congo through Uganda to Volcanoes National Park in Rwanda. This is the only area in the world where mountain gorillas live. Consequently, scientists consider them an endangered species.

Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

Bwindi Impenetrable National Park takes the “lion’s share” of experience regarding gorilla trekking. The park opened in 1991 after researchers discovered the “Gentle Giants.” Bwindi initially served as a forest reserve because it protects some of the oldest tree species, dating back 25,000 years. Indeed, UNESCO recognized Bwindi as a World Heritage Site in 1994 due to its immense biodiversity.

Over 459 individual mountain gorillas live in Bwindi. This makes it the largest habitat in the entire Virunga Conservation Area. Bwindi hosts over 50 gorilla families, but rangers have habituated only 24 for trekking. Typically, a territorial male called a silverback protects each family. These families live across four sectors:

Buhoma Sector

Ruhija Sector

Rushaga Sector

Nkuringo Sector

The Gorilla Trekking Experience

The journey starts with a pre-trekking briefing at the park headquarters. An experienced ranger guide takes visitors through the required rules and the expected code of conduct. Additionally, this process involves cross-checking your Uganda gorilla permits and organizing travelers into groups of eight.

Upon locating these magnificent mountain gorillas, you receive a maximum of one hour in their presence. You will observe them feed, play, care for their young, and roam through the forest. Naturally, this provides the perfect chance to take pictures and create everlasting moments.

Mgahinga Gorilla National Park

Mgahinga Gorilla National Park is the smallest national park in Uganda. It covers just 33.7 square kilometers. It gained UNESCO recognition in 2007 because it protects rare golden monkeys and mountain gorillas.

Mgahinga hosts over 100 individual gorillas but features only one habituated group: the Nyakagezi gorilla family. A silverback called Mark leads this family, assisted by a silverback named Ndugutse. Specifically, trekking this group is quite easy because they stay on the lower slopes to feed on bamboo shoots. You can find more details in our Mgahinga gorilla trekking guide.

Chimpanzee Trekking in Uganda’s Tropical Forests

Chimpanzee trekking in Uganda is very rewarding. It leads you into the natural habitats of these playful primates. Encountering these chimpanzees allows for an amazing face-to-face interaction. Essentially, chimpanzee tracking involves moving through dense tropical forests to find their troops.

Chimpanzees are social primates that live in groups known as “troops.” A dominant male defends the group. Notably, trekking these chimpanzees is relatively easy because they make loud noises that you can hear from a distance.

Tracking the Troops

Just like gorilla trekking, chimpanzee tracking begins with a pre-tracking briefing. Rangers group visitors into sets of eight, explain the rules, and check permits. After trekking through the tropical forest for a few hours, visitors finally spot these primates.

Visitors spend one hour watching these chimpanzees feed, play, and rest. Uganda hosts the largest population of primates in East Africa, with over 5,000 individuals. Currently, chimpanzee trekking occurs mainly in:

Kibale National Park (The Primate Capital)

Kyambura Gorge (Queen Elizabeth National Park)

Budongo Forest

Combining Gorilla Trekking and Chimpanzee Trekking on a 4-Day Trip

Is it possible to combine both? The answer is a resounding yes. Rangers conduct gorilla trekking in the morning hours. Conversely, you can do chimpanzee trekking in both the morning and afternoon.

Since the gorilla encounter lasts one hour, visitors can finish a trek in the Buhoma sector of Bwindi and then travel to Queen Elizabeth National Park or Kibale for an afternoon chimpanzee trek.

The Buhoma sector sits close to Queen Elizabeth National Park and is only a few kilometers from Kibale. Therefore, this proximity makes it very possible to trek both mountain gorillas and chimpanzees on a seamless 4-day trip. Ultimately, this is the best way to experience Uganda wildlife photography safaris while maximizing your time in the “Pearl of Africa.”

Uganda is a premier destination for birding enthusiasts, boasting over 1,000 species across diverse habitats. This 18-day Uganda birding safari takes you from the shores of Lake Victoria to the ancient rainforests of the Albertine Rift, offering a chance to spot the prehistoric Shoebill, the elusive Green-breasted Pitta, and the majestic mountain gorilla.

Day 1: Welcome to the Pearl of Africa

Upon your arrival at Entebbe International Airport, our professional guide will transfer you to your hotel.
Safari overview

8 days primate safari is one of the best primate tours designed for you to have quality time with your favorite primates while in their natural habitat. The top destinations to be explored on this primate tour include Bwindi Impenetrable National Park for mountain gorilla trekking, Mgahinga Gorilla National Park for golden monkey tracking, and combines relaxation at Lake Bunyonyi, the deepest freshwater Lake in Uganda. You will begin and end your safari to see Uganda primates from Kigali, Rwanda.

Safari details

Itinerary Overview

Day 1: Arrival & Kigali City Exploration

Upon your arrival at Kigali International Airport, your driver-guide will warmly welcome you. If you arrive early, you will have the opportunity to explore Rwanda’s capital. Specifically, a short city tour includes a visit to the Kigali Genocide Memorial in Gisozi, where a site guide provides deep insights into the 1994 tragedy. Afterward, you can visit Kimironko Market, Kigali’s largest market, to browse local crafts and sample fresh tropical fruits.

Day 2: Kigali to Mgahinga Gorilla National Park

Today, you will begin your primate safari by driving from Kigali toward the Uganda border at Cyanika. After crossing into Kisoro, you will proceed to Mgahinga Gorilla National Park. Although it is Uganda’s smallest park, it is a vital part of the Virunga Massif. Once you arrive, you will check into your lodge to relax amidst the breathtaking scenery of rolling volcanic hills.

Day 3: Golden Monkey Tracking & Batwa Trail

You will wake up early for a briefing at the Ntebeko Park Headquarters regarding golden monkey tracking rules. Subsequently, you will spend 2 to 4 hours trekking through the bamboo forests to find these playful, endangered primates.

In the evening, you will embark on a cultural walk to visit the Batwa community. During this encounter, you will learn how the “keepers of the forest” lived harmoniously with nature for centuries before the park was established.

4. Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

After a hefty breakfast, you will drive from Mgahinga to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. Bwindi is a UNESCO World Heritage site and home to approximately 459 mountain gorillas—nearly half of the world’s remaining population. You will spend the afternoon relaxing at your lodge, breathing in the fresh air of the ancient rainforest.

Day 5: Gorilla Trekking in the Mist

This is the highlight of your safari. After a morning briefing, you will begin your trek into the dense vegetation at 8:00 AM. Depending on the movement of the gorillas, the adventure can last between 2 to 6 hours. Once you locate a family, you will enjoy one “magical” hour of observation and photography. In the evening, you can further engage with the local culture through an optional community visit or a Batwa performance.

Day 6: Journey to Lake Bunyonyi

Following breakfast, you will depart the rainforest and head toward Lake Bunyonyi in Kabale. Known as the “place of many little birds,” Bunyonyi is Uganda’s deepest lake and is famous for its 29 scattered islands. Upon arrival, you will enjoy a serene boat ride to explore the unique geography of this terraced landscape.

Day 7: Full Day at Lake Bunyonyi

Today is dedicated to total relaxation and exploration. You may choose to take a dugout canoe ride to historical sites like Punishment Island or Upside-down Island. For those seeking more adrenaline, the lake offers activities such as zip-lining, cycling, or swimming (it is one of the few lakes in Africa free of bilharzia and crocodiles).

Day 8: Return to Kigali

After an early breakfast, your driver-guide will take you through Kabale town to the Katuna border. You will then cross back into Rwanda and continue to Kigali, marking the conclusion of your 8-day primate adventure.
