Detailed itinerary                               

Day1. Arrival and transfer to a hotel

Be picked up from the airport on arrival and in case your arrival time is in the morning or afternoon, you can visit some of the city-based attractions like the Uganda wildlife educational centre, the Kabaka’s palace, the Uganda museum and many more. You will be taken to the booked hotel in Kampala and this will be the beginning of your safari.

Day2. Transfer to Mgahinga national park

Begin the day with an early breakfast and then transfer to Mgahinga national park which is the smallest national park in the pearl of Africa. It has unique primates which are the endangered mountain gorillas and the rare golden monkeys. This park also is located in the Virunga Massif also known as the Virunga Conservation Area shared among three countries that are Uganda, Rwanda and Tanzania.

While on the way to the park, you will enjoy the beautiful landscape covered by terraced lands, plantations, cattle farms, escarpments and many more others. a stopover will be at the Uganda Equator where you will enjoy photographic moments and experiments to show the north and southern hemisphere. Arrive in the evening at the lodge booked and this will be the end of the day

Day3. Gorilla trekking

Begin the day with breakfast and then a short drive to the park office to be able to attend the briefing exercise. This will be conducted by the park guide ranger as the park warden will be cross-checking the gorilla trekking permits. The dos and don’ts will be the main objective of this briefing since they will guide you throughout the experience among others are don’t use the flashlight camera since the gorillas can end up attacking you, don’t litter the park premises, don’t make noise while in the forest and all the time keep a distance from the gorillas.

You will then begin the search with the park ranger together with the potters and other trekkers. Locate them and spend an hour in their presence and this will be another great experience while recording memorable photos. Return to the lodge after the trek to share memories with the staff of the lodge and fellow colleagues on the same safari.

Day4. Transfer to Bwindi national park and Batwa community

Head to the only impenetrable national park in Uganda which is the Bwindi located near the Virunga conservation area also home to endangered mountain gorillas. surprisingly, the park homes almost half of the remaining mountain gorillas in the world. This park is located in Kanungu district far south western Uganda and it’s among the smallest national parks covering an area of 321 square kilometres. On your arrival, you will have your lunch and then visit the nearby community of the Batwa who will take you through the community walk and after being entertained by the traditional music and dances. After you will head back to the lodge and this will create everlasting memories. 

Day5. Gorilla trekking in Bwindi

Head for another exciting and last dose of gorilla trekking in the midst of Bwindi Forest which will begin with a briefing at the park headquarters. You will be told the dos and don’ts to follow while in the forest and this will not differ from the previous briefing. Here you will be given all the required information about the gorilla family you will trek with in terms of behaviours and many more others. begin the trek with a help of the ranger guide and meet different attractions like the birds, plants and many other forest inhabitants. On spotting the family of gorillas trekked, you will spend an hour in their presence and this will be another great reward. After head back to the lodge and this will be the end of the day since the experience can even take about 8 hours.

Day6. Transfer back to Kampala You will have an early breakfast and immediately transfer back to Kampala with the option of stopping in Mbarara to visit the Igongo cultural centre where you will encounter the true Banyankore culture. Touch and feel the art facts displayed in the museum. The designed stopover will be at the Uganda equator where you will have late lunch. Proceed to Kampala and drop off at Entebbe international airport.
